Save the date and joins us on Sat 09/25 @ 10 am PST via Zoom to learn about La Güengüense – which was the first theatrical play in Nicaragua, and some say the first-ever in Latin America. In 2005, UNESCO proclaimed it “Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity.” We host the event in collaboration with Juan from Nicaragua.
Juan is an economist by profession while; working as a manager in a construction company led him to pursue a Master’s degree in Industrial Design in Barcelona. Juan’s other great passion is writing. He has been published in newspapers, magazines, and e everything from economic articles to an essay on Nicaraguan women poets.
Juan will share how through El Güengüense, miscegenation and its influence on the Nicaraguan idiosyncrasy are expressed.
All of our virtual experiences are in Spanish and last between 45 min – 1 hr. The event is FREE for current students and open to anyone in the community who wants to join us for $20.
